He’s also announced year two of the New Chance enrichment fund for Chicago Public Schools

Today (October 4), at the second annual summit for his nonprofit SocialWorksChance the Rapper announced that he is donating $1 million to mental health services in Chicago. Six different mental wellness providers will each receive $100,000 grants as part of the donation. SocialWorks has also announced a new initiative, My State of Mind, focused on improving mental health resources in Cook County, Illinois. One part of the initiative is a guidebook (to be made available physically and digitally) to help guide people to the right resources.

Among Chance’s past philanthropic efforts were his 2017 donations to Chicago Public Schools. At the press conference today, Chance revealed that the New Chance fund established in 2017, which distributed enrichment funds to 20 public schools, has been extended for another year. With help from companies like Google, the New Chance fund will distribute $2 million to another 20 schools, with a focus on computer science enrichment.
