Since the world learned\u00a0Geoffrey Owens<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0working at a Trader Joe\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0grocery store between acting gigs, the\u00a0Cosby Show<\/em>\u00a0alum has been inundated with support and even offered a job by\u00a0Tyler Perry.<\/a><\/p>\n

And on Thursday,\u00a0Nicki Minaj<\/a>\u00a0also offered her support to the actor \u2014 saying she wants to give him $25,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis man is a whole f\u2014ing legend,\u201d the rapper said during her\u00a0latest episode<\/a>of\u00a0Queen Radio<\/em>\u00a0on Beats 1. \u201cThat man is now getting so many opportunities, I personally want to donate $25,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minaj also called out\u00a0Karma Lawrence<\/a>, the woman\u00a0who took\u00a0Owens\u2019\u00a0photo at a Trader Joe\u2019s in New Jersey where he was bagging groceries.<\/p>\n

Calling Lawrence a \u201cstupid f\u2014,\u201d the star accused her of \u201ctrying to embarrass this hardworking man,\u201d who played\u00a0Elvin Tibideaux on\u00a0The Cosby Show\u00a0<\/em>from\u00a01985-92.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>\u00a0later in the day at the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards, Minaj expounded on her thoughts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all have done jobs like that and I just thought, what if that were me? Or a family member and they were minding their own business, working to feed their family and somebody tried to humiliate them? I don\u2019t like the way that feels.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cTell him that I\u2019m going to have my team contact him because I hope he doesn\u2019t take it the wrong way. I just want to help him in any way I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Owens\u00a0told PEOPLE<\/a>\u00a0that his\u00a0first thought following the news of his Trader Joe\u2019s job going public was how his son would feel about it.<\/p>\n

Detailing his fear that his 19-year-old child would be humiliated, the father of one recalled, \u201cI texted my son and warned him about the story breaking. I actually apologized to him for embarrassing him, because I knew that he\u2019s in school away from us. I knew his classmates would see it and he\u2019d be humiliated and embarrassed. I apologized to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owens, who worked at the grocery store for 15 months, added, \u201cEven before the wave of support rolled in within an hour or two, he sent me a beautiful text back about how proud he was of me. I cried, I just broke down. He felt the opposite of embarrassment. He was so proud that I had taken the job. It was beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also shared that the attention he\u2019s been receiving since the photo was published by some tabloids has been overwhelming.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really hurt. I felt really humiliated,\u201d Owens said. \u201cI tried to envision the worse case scenario just to prepare myself and then it was just a little bit worse. If that was possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the experience turned into a learning moment for the actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s because I kind of hung in there and persevered that all of this amazing stuff has now happened. I am someone who generally does persevere, but this confirmed to me how important it is to just hang in there,\u201d Owens said. \u201cI think that\u2019s so important for so many people in my industry. You just have to hang on!\u201d<\/p>\n

He poignantly added, \u201cI\u2019ve learned to never give up.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an\u00a0appearance on\u00a0Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Tuesday, Owens explained that he first took the job because he wanted \u201cflexibility\u201d in order to stay in the entertainment business, but he\u2019s since quit over the attention. (He\u2019s been acting, teaching and directing for over 30 years.)<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one should feel sorry for me,\u201d he explained. \u201cI\u2019ve had a great life. I\u2019ve had a great career. I\u2019ve had a career that most actors would die for. So no one has to feel sorry for me. I\u2019m doing fine!\u201d<\/p>\n
