Anderson .Paak Fillmore Charlotte

Anderson .Paak, fresh from a Grammy win, blew into Charlotte with his Andy’s Beach Club World Tour. With The Free Nationals (10 years and running) on deck, .Paak went balls to the wall for over an hour.

Alternating from banging on drums, to rocking the mic, to stage diving, Anderson .Paak was all over the stage like Allen Iverson on the court. He opened the set with Bubblin‘ the baby that brought the Grammy home and continued to drop fan favorites like Trippy from Oxnard and his earlier work including Venice and Malibu.

.Paak’s album-crisp voice was razor sharp and the show featured high production values. No waffling bass farts on the lows and crisp, clear highs on the horns. Live instrumentation isn Hip-Hop is always hit-or-miss, but this show was certainly a bull’s eye.

The set included a moving tribute to fallen rapper Mac Miller, who committed suicide in late 2018. .Paak performed the duo’s 2016 breakup anthem “Dang!,” a sad reminder of Miller’s lost talent.

Anderson .Paak has quite the following. The mixed mass of fans sang word for word in unison.

Andy’s Beach Club World Tour is a blast. Anderson .Paak is funky and The Free Nationals are very talented. Even the music between acts was chill. If you get a chance to see him perform live, take it. Pics below.
