After some incredibly high-profile collaborations with everyone from Nike to Ikea in the last year, Virgil Abloh’s label Off-White has been named as “the hottest brand on the planet” according to the latest edition of the Lyst Index.
A quarterly report ranking the most popular fashion brands and products in the world, the Q3 2018 edition of the Lyst Index indicates that Off-White has risen 33 places to the No. 1 spot on the list. This means Abloh’s brand has pushed past Gucci, Balenciaga, Nike, and Prada among many others.
“Thanks to a quarter packed with globally-hyped launches and collaborations, the brand buzz surrounding Virgil Abloh and his disruptive creative aesthetic continues to grow,” explains Lyst of Off-White’s placement in the index. “Searches for Off-White across Lyst’s partner retailers are up 14% quarter on quarter, and Off-White is responsible for 3 out of 20 products in the hottest products lists. One of Off-White’s biggest drivers of social engagement remains Abloh’s ongoing collaboration with Nike.”
In other words, Abloh’s brand is doing incredibly well, indeed. It’s been a very good year for him overall, and not just for Off-White, either. In fact, his role as Artistic Director of men’s wear at Louis Vuitton has been well received, too. When he debuted his first-ever Vuitton collection in June, him and long-time friend and collaborator Kanye West shared an emotional moment.
