The King of Pop Michael Jackson would have been 60 today (Aug. 29). In honor of his life and legacy, his sister, and icon in her own right, Janet Jackson paid homage to her brother by reenacting his iconic 1992 music video “Remember the Time.”
TMZ obtained the one-minute video, and to say the least, Janet nailed it. Similar to the original, Janet plays a royal who seeks to be entertained. She recruited viral stars Kwaylon Rogers – aka @BlameItOnKway – and King Bach to play jesters or performers vying for the queen’s approval. At the video’s end, Kwaylon seems to win her affection with a fun dance to her hit single “Made For Now.”
Kway reportedly approached Janet at the 2018 Billboard Awards this year, where he pitched the idea of reimagining Michael’s iconic video. Janet was almost instantly sold on the idea, and the group rehearsed and shot the Diamond Batiste-directed video in one day, TMZ reports.
As you may remember, Michael’s original video enlisted a handful of his celebrity friends. Eddie Murphy and supermodel Iman portrayed royalty, while Magic Johnson and Friday’s Tommy “Tiny” Lister played a members of the king’s court.
