The rapper Famous Dex allegedly pulled a gun on UC Irvine students after the concert he was playing at the university was canceled because of his stage diving.
In a video posted to social media, a man appearing to be Dex, whose real name is Dexter Gore Jr., can be seen waving a gun at a group of students who had surrounded his car following the canceled show on Friday night.
Campus police also texted students and posted a message to social media warning that a 25-year-old, 5’11” man had been spotted with a gun near the campus’ Bren Event Center. The age and height match those listed online for Dex.
The incident followed the Chicago rapper’s performance at Shocktoberfest, the university’s annual fall concert.
During his performance, the rapper reportedly leaped into the crowd, causing a stampede of students that forced officials to turn on the lights and cancel the concert, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“University police on site declared it was a dangerous situation,” a university spokesperson told the paper, “so they turned on the lights and canceled the rest of the show.”
Following the show’s early end, the headliner, YG, took to Twitter to voice his frustration. “Show cancelled,” the rapper tweeted. “Wack ass f—k.”
