Aquaman is the next installment in Warner Bros.’ DC Comics movie universe, but a new 5-minute extended look reiterates that it won’t be the gritty, dark universe that some may have expected.

The five minute segment focuses on Arthur’s relationship with Mera, as the two hunt down his trident. It’s funny, which is to be expected following the San Diego Comic-Con trailer.

The clip spends a little more time examining Arthur Curry’s relationship to Mera, and his connection to the lost city of Atlantis. Like that early trailer, the new Aquaman spot does reiterate that Wan doesn’t want to go down the Zack Snyder path — Aquaman looks goofy, colorful and vibrant in a way many past DCU movies weren’t.

“I want our film to be a little bit different, a bit more unique,” Wan told SDCC attendees. “My movie plays more like science fiction fantasy film than a traditional superhero movie.”

Aquaman’s official synopsis reads:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Aquaman is set to premiere Dec. 14.
